Uncertain Curriculum - Uncertain Credential - Uncertain Future

Whats next for AHIMA? Whats next for the RHIT Credential?
We are about to see a big change...EDUCATORS BE AWARE, AHIMA's HIMR (HIM RE-imagined) is changing the face of the RHIT Credential. If you have graduates entering your two year program, they will in all likelihood NOT be able to take the current RHIT Test which ends in 2020.
AHIMA has chosen the first of the two "specialty" tracks for the RHIT+ Credential - Revenue Cycle and Data Management - HOWEVER these are not due to be finalized and handed off to CAHIIM until December of this year (2018) - if all the public comments are closed.
Where does this leave us...in a state of flux with what to tell our HIM Students. We would be negligent if we did not reveal the possibility of delay with our future HIM Students, they would be foolish to spend the money on an RHIT education i this state of uncertain curriculum. It is a predicament that has no other answer than honesty.
